  1. Who is Jayma Kunan and what does it stand for?
  2. Jayma Kunan is a charity organisation registered in Germany which is engaged in two charitable projects, in two countries on two continents: Gloria in Ceadir Lunga (Moldova) and Huaycan (Peru). Jayma Kunan only has 10 members, all of which are all of us are working full time and are spending parts of their leisure time on charitable work.

In Peru we try our best to help children in the slum Huaycan to a better life by providing nutrition, education, fun and medical help. In Moldova, we are supporting the project Gloria with in-kind donations.

Bottom line: We want to help people – in particuar children – in two of the poorest areas of the world to a better life.

  3. Is Jayma Kunan a registered NGO?
  4. Yes. Jayma Kunan is a registered nonprofit charity organization in Germany. Please check the left hand side of our homepage for our legal details.

  5. How do you choose where to work?
  6. The sights of our projects are more or less historically driven: either our members are connected to it by origin (e.g. Lima/Huaycán) or we have already been active there for several years (Ceadir Lunga). We’re very aware of the fact that there are many more projects out there which need help and support urgently. Yet, we run Jayma Kunan voluntarily in our leisure time. That is why we have agreed to keep a tight focus regarding the range of projects we are involved in. At the same time we are trying to get more broadly involved within each project.

  7. Do I get a donation receipt?
  8. Yes, you will receive a donation receipt via email for every donation larger than EUR 20– be it monetary or in-kind. Currently, this service is only available in Germany. We will keep you informed as soon as we have further subsidiaries of Jayma Kunan in other countries.

  9. Who supports Jayma Kunan?
  10. In general, we work completely independent from other organizations or churches. We list generous contributors on the homepage of our website.

  11. How did Jayma Kunan end up supporting Gloria and Huaycan?
  12. Gloria: The project is run by the German Charity organization “Wort und Tat” and some of us were invited in 2010 to visit the project and help locally. The visit and in particular the conditions there impressed us so much that we started our support of the project immediately, although we didn’t even have a registered organization back then.

Huaycan: Although Peru is fast growing and developing country, there are still a lot of regions which are very poor – a fact we could experience ourselves during several vists. This experience led us to the decision that we wanted to be active in this country and we contacted the “Defensoria del Pueblo” (an institution that supports slums). They showed us 3 projects which urgently needed help as no other Charity organisation was supporting them. With food, education and literally a roof, the project “Camino al Cielo” in Huaycan had the most profound needs and that’s how we picked Huaycan in 2013.

  14. Your donation is transmitted safely and securely via the SSL Secure Server. Please always fully complete the form. Prior to debiting your account with your online donation, we will send you a confirmation by email.

It is not possible for unauthorized persons to access your data. Your data will be exclusively conveyed to us in encoded form. 15. How can Jayma Kunan assure that donations and in-kind supports are received by the children/school/persons that really need it?
  16. We’ve visited all our sites personally and will continue doing so on a regular basis. In Huaycán, for instance, we are in regular personal contact with Sister Martina Kim who is running the center/ school through members of Jayma Kunan who live in Lima. In Ceadir Lunga  Jayma Kunan has a contact person who also maintains close friendships with some of our founding members . He founded the project there and visits it 6-7 times a year.

  17. Which percentage of the donations is consumed by administration costs?
  18. We vouchsafe that all donations are transferred to their designated destination without a single cent being deducted. All administration costs (e.g. postage, transfer charges from our account to Peru, etc.) are covered by Jayma Kunan’s members. We will further publish our financial records in our Annual Reports and have them checked by an independent professional accountant with appropriate credentials (CFO of a German company).

  19. Do you issue an overview of your financial data?
  20. Yes we do. Please take a look at our Annual Reports.

  21. How do you control your expenses?
  22. It goes without saying that we intend to keep administration costs as low as possible. However, there are some cases in which such costs are inevitable, e.g. transfer charges. We have negotiated a deal with our bank which has agreed to donate an amount higher than the transfer fees to Jayma Kunan every year. Furthermore, we will send contribution receipts by email to save postal charges. In addition to that, we are happy to draw on the financial expertise of a very experienced treasurer who is part of team. Our treasurer is a very experienced member of the financial profession and we’re happy to be able to draw on his sound expertise. Together with our auditor (see question 3) we are optimally prepared for our endeavor.

  23. Who controls the expenditures and projects abroad?
  24. The school in Huaycán is the only project in our portfolio which has a financial focus. The members of Jayma Kunan are directly responsible for  the transfers and the communication between Jayma Kunan and the center / school in Perú. Of course we require a budget for all upcoming expenditures at the school, the respective receipts and before/after-investment pictures which we will also post on our website. This process enables us to offer you the possibility to donate for a specific cause (e.g. the roof of the school). You are also very welcome to visit our Facebook page www.facebook.com/jaymakunan where we provide a very brief update on the most recent developments regularly. Finally, some of our family members live in Lima and visit the school every couple of weeks.

  25. How can contributors advertise with their donations?
  26. In case of significant donations we are more than happy to inform you for which projects we used the funds. If desired, we will also send you some pictures to use in e.g. your company newspaper or local newspaper. We also have a section on our website where we are willing to mention generous sponsors of Jayma Kunan, should they ask for it.

  27. How can I see the results of my contributions?
  28. One of our core values at Jayma Kunan is to be fully transparent regarding our operations and financials. That is why we publish our financial data in our Annual Reports. If you wish, you can mention in your transfer receipt to which cause you want to dedicate your donation (e.g. new text books for the school/center in Huaycán). We will publish important milestones in the “News” section regularly. More frequent updates can be obtained via Facebook: www.facebook.com/jaymakunan.
